TB-500

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide related to thymosin beta-4, supplied by Nocap Research strictly as a research chemical for qualified laboratory research use only.

What is TB-500?

TB-500 is a name used for synthetic peptides related to thymosin beta-4. In the analytical literature it refers to the N-acetylated heptapeptide Ac-LKKTETQ, residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4 (CAS 885340-08-9); some suppliers use it for full-length thymosin beta-4. The independent lab's certificate for the current Nocap Research batch records identity as "TB-4 Confirmed" by HPLC against a reference standard.

Chemical Identity

The name TB-500 is used in the doping-control and analytical chemistry literature for the synthetic peptide Ac-LKKTETQ, an N-terminally acetylated fragment matching residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4. It is catalogued under CAS registry number 885340-08-9 with molecular formula C38H68N10O14 and a molecular weight of approximately 889.0 g/mol. Thymosin beta-4 itself is a 43-residue polypeptide of the beta-thymosin family. Nocap Research offers this material solely as a reference material for in vitro laboratory investigation, and nothing on this page describes an effect in humans or animals.

What the Name TB-500 Refers To

Published analytical work identified the acetylated 17-23 fragment of thymosin beta-4 as the key component of products sold as TB-500, and later testing of products sold as TB500 and TB1000 found that their contents did not consistently match their labels. In practice the name is attached to more than one material.

That is why the identity result on each batch certificate matters more than the product name. The independent lab confirms identity by comparing the sample's HPLC retention time with a reference standard; for the current Nocap Research batch the certificate records the identity line as "TB-4 Confirmed". The specification table above describes the material the analytical literature calls TB-500, and identity data for full-length thymosin beta-4 is listed here for comparison.

Physical Form, Handling, and Storage

The material is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. As a laboratory reagent, lyophilized peptide is generally stored desiccated and protected from light, with long-term storage commonly at -20C or below and short-term working material at 2C to 8C. For laboratory work the powder is solubilized in a solvent chosen for the intended in vitro application. These notes describe general handling of the material as a research reagent. They are not instructions for use in humans or animals.
